Albus is a man who knows himself and his place in the world around him. He has a kind smile and a generous heart, putting others (especially students) before himself. He is a phenomenal listener and is known to think carefully on a subject before giving his opinion. He is rarely seen to speak flippantly – everything he says contains purpose and a deeper meaning. Albus is quick to see the good in everyone, believing that the ideals of truth, beauty, and love will always win over cruelty and malice. In passing, he leaves an impression of a brilliant and incredibly gifted wizard, who perhaps is wasting his talents on education. More than once people have asked him why he hasn’t pursued a career with the Ministry. Albus has responded with a chuckle, thanking the speaker for the compliment, and reminding him that in educating the future Ministry, he is more than making his mark on the world.

What many people fail to realize is that for all of Albus’ brilliance in the affairs of others, he rarely, if ever, talks about himself. There are parts of his personality that even he dislikes. He can be calculating, weighing the odds of each decision based on the strategic outcome and less on the impact those decisions would have on people. He is aloof, preferring to keep others at a distance, and yet, his weakness is the love he feels for other people. He knows it would be easier if he didn’t create strong attachments with others. Still, he can’t help himself. The secrets he keeps weigh heavy on his heart. Albus is far more emotionally fragile than he lets on. He has been deeply affected by the actions of his past, actions that he feels he must atone and yet, nothing he does will ever grant him the forgiveness he so craves.

The thing that Albus yearns for the most is the sense of belonging. Growing up, he always felt that his thirst for knowledge and unyielding sense of what is right cost him close bonds with friends and family. Books made far more sense and weren’t prone to hysterical outbursts or fits of emotion. He was slow to temper, but when it was unleashed, Albus could be brutal in using his knowledge to defeat his adversary. In the years since the tragic summer of 1899, Albus has learned to control the worst of his flaws, but every failure merely adds to the growing list. In his mind, he will never be good enough, strong enough, brilliant enough. At times, he allows the inner demons to keep him from taking action in the hopes that in protecting himself from failure, he keeps others safe as well.

Albus strives for good, to move beyond his past to a better future. When he does let others into his confidence, he is a fierce friend who will fight for others no matter the outcome. While he struggles to forgive himself, he is able to offer forgiveness to others.

At the time Albus is arriving in 1980s London, he is currently the Transfiguration Professor at Hogwarts. He is continuing to act as an advocate for his students, supporting them whenever they find themselves in trouble with Hogwarts Administration. The Wizarding World is recovering from the Great War and there are dangerous rumblings regarding Gellert Grindewald. There is tension between the Muggle world and the Wizarding world. Albus tends to advocate for Muggles and Muggleborn, standing up for their rights even in the Ministry. Because Albus is well respected, his views are taken into consideration, even if they seem to be a bit radical at the time.

He and his brother Aberforth continue to be estranged. Albus keeps track of his brother’s whereabouts and sends him letters occasionally. They haven’t seen each other in decades and Albus doesn’t believe that will change any time soon. His family is the faculty and students at Hogwarts. He has dedicated his life to teaching and the wellbeing of his students.

Albus arrived in 1980 a week ago. He’s still finding his footing. Being separated from Hogwarts is proving to be more difficult than he first anticipated. He’s let a flat above the Leaky Cauldron and has gone about filling his space with books. He’s been to the Ministry twice since his arrival. As much as he protests the idea of registering and being Traced, he’s complied. Of course, he’s also looked into different ways to get around the magical trace as well. Albus calls it “research” but it’s only a matter of time before he has the work around.

As for employment, Albus would like nothing more than to be a professor. If Hogwarts is out of the question, then he’ll be happy to offer his services out as a tutor. He’d love to give demonstrations and lectures at local apothecaries and book shops. He’s uncertain about his money situation. He’s never had to worry about it before and he wonders if his name/account is still available at Gringotts. He’ll check it out and then create a plan going forward.



This is Albus Dumbledore. He’s considered a genius when it comes to magical abilities. He is incredibly well read and has invented various uses for Dragon’s Blood. Magic comes as naturally to Albus as breathing, so his real limit is unknown. What he is weakened by is his relationships with others. Albus’ ambition is tempered by his past. For the Greater Good has taken a different meaning in his life, even if it still shapes his outlook.
